By Larry LeMasters Nearly all children have, at one time or another, collected Lincoln pennies. President Lincoln’s face has adorned the US penny since 1909, making this its 114th year in production. More than 170 billion Lincoln pennies have been produced since 1959 so children have always had an abundant supply of pennies to save in jars, piggy banks, or drawers.
